What is Blackhead Removal?
Blackhead Care is a nose-focused treatment that gently clears the sebum and buildup that make nose pores look dark. No anesthesia is needed, and patients can return to their day right afterward. Much like easing open a clogged drain instead of jabbing at it, Blackhead Care loosens the pore openings so buildup can drain out on its own.
Who it may be considered for
Suitable for:
- Those bothered by blackheads (open comedones) around the nose and nostrils
- Oily or combination skin where pore openings clog easily
- Anyone who notices makeup settling into pores
- People who want gentle pore cleansing without aggressive extraction
- Anyone who wants a clean, refreshed nose surface in a short session with essentially no downtime
Note: the timing may need to be adjusted depending on the condition of the skin in the treatment area (see the cautions for specific contraindications).
What happens at the visit
1) Prep: a sebum-softening lotion is applied to the nose (it may feel cool).
2) Ultrasonic skin spatula (scrubber): fine ultrasonic vibration and a small amount of water gently push away surface dead skin and debris on the nose; patients may notice a soft buzzing sound and a light misting sensation.
3) Sulfur pack: a sulfur-based pack that helps clear oil is applied to the nose (it feels cool).
Extraction is a supporting step: only buildup that has clearly risen to the surface is lightly cleared, and no forceful extraction is performed. The entire treatment focuses on the nose and finishes in a short session with no anesthesia.
Safety and aftercare
If there is an ongoing skin infection, an open wound, severe inflammation, or irritation in the treatment area, it is recommended to avoid that area or to provide care after the skin has settled sufficiently. Pustular acne and inflammatory lesions are not extracted forcibly, and the scope of care is adjusted according to the skin condition. If you have experienced an allergic or hypersensitivity reaction to sebum-softening agents or exfoliating ingredients, please inform the medical team before treatment.
Stinging or itching may be felt during the sebum-softening process, and temporary redness, tenderness, or irritation may occur in areas where extraction was performed. On the day of treatment, please avoid scrubs, strong exfoliation, excessive cleansing, and anything else that irritates the skin, as well as saunas, hot compresses, and alcohol; adequate moisturizing and sun protection are recommended.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are under treatment for a skin condition, please discuss with the medical team before treatment to confirm whether the care can be provided.

Frequently asked questions
When Will Blackhead Care Results Appear — and How Long Do They Last?
Right after the session, cleared pore openings on the nose may, depending on the individual, leave the surface feeling smoother, with makeup sitting more evenly. Because sebum and debris naturally build up again over time, regular sessions, generally every 2 to 4 weeks in line with the skin's roughly 4-week cell-turnover cycle and oil production, help keep pore openings clear. The individual's ideal interval is set during consultation based on the skin condition. To help results last, pairing Blackhead Care with everyday home care, gentle (not over-) cleansing, consistent moisturizing, and sun protection, is helpful, and a home-care direction suited to the skin can be discussed at the consultation. (The degree and duration of results vary from person to person.)
Does Blackhead Care hurt? Is anesthesia needed?
No anesthesia is required; this is a non-invasive treatment. Patients may feel fine vibration, slight tingling from the sulfur and acidic ingredients, and a cool sensation, but there is little to no pain. Let the therapist know anytime if any discomfort is felt.
Is there downtime after Blackhead Care? Can I go about my day right after?
There is essentially no downtime; patients can resume daily activities and wear makeup right away. Mild, temporary redness around the nose may occur but usually fades quickly. Just avoid sauna, harsh cleansing, and alcohol on the same day.
Are blackheads manually squeezed during Blackhead Care?
No forceful extraction is done. The main steps are the ultrasonic scrubber and the sulfur pack; extraction is a supporting step in which only buildup that has clearly surfaced is lightly cleared. This minimizes the irritation and pore stress that aggressive squeezing can cause.
How often should I come?
Sebum and debris naturally accumulate again over time. In line with the skin's roughly 4-week cell-turnover cycle and individual oil production, oil-care treatments are generally most helpful when done consistently every 2 to 4 weeks. Between sessions, gentle cleansing and moisturizing at home help maintain results. The doctor sets the individual's exact interval and suggests a home-care direction based on the skin condition during consultation. One session on its own can still leave the nose surface feeling tidier right after, while regular care helps with upkeep (results vary by individual).
